GERMAN HELMET M1940 SIZE 56 WW2 LUFTWAFFE

This helmet had not been modified or altered in any way. This item is as is it was before May of 1945. This WWII Luftwaffe German helmet retains around 95% of the original Luftwaffe blue grey factory rough texture paint.

The split pin rivets are fully intact and are original to the helmet. This German helmet has the correct reinforced aluminum banded M1931 liner. The liner band is size 56 and is date stamped 1941. The liner leather is in good overall condition. The liner has been treated at some point with a leather conditioner. The name and the APO address of the US soldier that mailed the piece home during the war is nicely written in the liner leather. The addressee was written on the other side and it was cleaned off. The original drawstring is present and is in condition commensurate with the liner. There is an acceptance stamp in the inner dome area.

The second pattern Luftwaffe decal rates at 85% and has nice toning. This German Helmet is an ET64 indicating manufacture by the Eisenhuttenwerke firm in Thale, Germany.
