German WW2 Helmet with Vet Inscription

This is a model M40 German helmet from WW2. This helmet has an inscription that looks to be from the american vet who brought it home. The inscription reads Picked up Biscari Airfield Sicily 1943 1st. LE Brown and a #.

This helmet was manufactured by Quist. The size is 64 and batch number DN368.

I have read that it was issued in slate color and with no decal. The paint has scrapes and scratches. I will be listing many German and Japanese items in the coming weeks.
