Any claims to the contrary are complete acts of fiction and should not be believed by anyone. An original M40 helmet that was taken off a Heer Unteroffizier back in the day. The metal and leather liner is still present and intact. Both of the strap rings are still there. Underneath the lip, on the inside, it is stamped.
Something like 689 on the back, though its too worn for me to tell for sure. What makes this one even more interesting is an inscription from the GI who confiscated it. It is addressed April 8, 1945. As is seen in the second to last picture (#5), most of the inscription is worn by time. But with the right light and digital correction more of it could probably be deciphered.I have no idea how to price this artifact. So I'm leaving it up to the market (you) to determine its value.
