RARE Orignal REAL German breast plate WW2 WW 2 WWII WW II emblem badge helmet

My father was a G. Ambulance driver that landed D-Day+2. He was in France, Belgium, and Germany. He often hauled wounded German prisoners and had to remove everything but their uniforms , so he came home with several German items. Unfortunately, my camera gives grainly pictures when close up. No idea what or were this piece was used? It has a slight curve. Possibly just from being stored for 70+ years or was it shaped to match a helmet or uniform shape? The only markings I see is the letters "CTD". Couldn't find anything like it.
