This helmet has still it's original WW1 era liner which has never been removed during last 100 years. I have glued some of those leather pads back, because they were very fragile. There are no pillows but some old stuff inside in the pockets. This was a very common WW2 era field modification in Finland. The helmet was missing chin-strap so now there is a repro one.
The rivets are correct type (thicker on rear) and I guess they are "Crescent" manufactured ones. I can see B W 3?
7 stamping on top of the crown. The previous owner has wroten his name on the front pad with year (1968).
The shell has been overpainted in some point and this was typical already during WW2. The color of the shell is not post WW2 era (matt dark green). After all it is a honest WW2 Finnish Army used M17 which is some 100 years old!
Finnish Army bought WW1 era German helmets in the early 20's, so many of these helmets were overpainted some 20 years later during WW2. These WW1 era "Horn Helmets" were only combat used helmets during Winter War 1939-40.
