WW2 German Fliegerkopfhaube für Jede Kopfweite ADJUSTABLE FLIGHT HELMET RARE

Für Jede Kopfweite mit FT-Gerät (Adjustable Summer Flight Helmet with Communication Equipment), Ln. , as used by many German pilots throughout WW2! This SPECIFIC version is the EXPERIMENTAL type, developed in 1945. During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit.

As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment. This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots... With an ADJUSTABLE head size. It was similar to the later summer variant of the Netzkopfhaub, but with adjustable straps, as opposed to mesh. It was never put into series production, so VERY FEW examples remain!

Made of leather, cotton, and fleece, this helmet is in EXCELLENT (almost unused) condition! All the buckles, tabs, and adjustments work perfectly, and all retain most of their original paint and finish! The electrics are intact, and all straps are fully adjustable.

The data label remains and simply indicated the 3-digit manufacture code, "hjm". He leather remains soft and supple, in a nice, rich, light brown.

Some slight marks and wear due to the age. The cellophane that covers the earphones is also intact! The large label on the top indicates. FÜR JEDE KOPFWEITE JEDE KOPFFORM.

The ONLY one I have had in the last 15 years, it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
