WW2 German LKpN101 Netzkopfhaube Pilot Flight Helmet Ln. 26670 EXCELLENT

26670, as used by many German pilots throughout WW2! This SPECIFIC version is the VERY RARE 2-point helmet, designed SOLELY for the 2-point oxygen masks as used by fighter pilots! During WW1, most pilots quickly realized the need for protective headgear due to the cold weather effects while in an open cockpit. As no headgear was readily available, pilots were forced to utilize commercially produced leather motorcycle and automobile helmets. During WW2, the German military produced approx. 10 variations of flight helmets for various operational conditions, as well as with or without radio communication equipment. This specific helmet was designed with radio equipment for fighter and bomber pilots. It was similar to the earlier model used in the early months of the Battle of Britain (LWpW100), however with updated features. Made of leather, cotton, and fleece, this helmet is in EXCELLENT used condition! All the buckles and tabs work perfectly, and all retain most of their original paint. The electrics are intact, and all straps are fully adjustable.

The data label remains and clearly indicates, LKpN101, Ln. The mesh is fully intact, and the leather remains soft and supple, in a nice, rich, dark brown. However as it was used in combat, there are some slight marks and wear. The cellophane that covers the earphones is also intact!

This is the RARER 2-point helmet (used by fighter pilots), and NOT to be confused with the common 3-point version (bomber version). A FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display! Most of my items are vintage, and as such are AS-IS, so you must therefore expect a degree of wear due to age and/or usage.
