WW2 German Quist M-40 combat helmet with liner

WW2 German Quist M-40 combat helmet with liner (there are no offensive symbols). For sale is an original WW2 German M-40 combat helmet. The helmet is stamped Q66 on the back-rim of shell. The helmet has an original painted interior with oval black ink stamped maker-marks to top (see pics). There is some faint rust under the rolled edge. The helmet has a grey repainted exterior with a faint textured feel. Q' designates'Quist' as the maker of the helmet.

Quist helmets are the most desirable of all WW2 German helmet and of excellent quality. The helmet has an original 1943 steel liner-band which is sized 66/58. The helmet has a very nice original pig skin liner with inked size and maker-marks. There are washers to all of the steel rivets.

The liner is tight with little or no flex as one would expect with an untampered original liner-band. The helmet has a copy black leather chin strap with grey washed steel fittings.

The clean 1943 pig-skin liner is rare in this condition. This is a nice large size original helmet suitable for re-enactors or a collector. Their experts were of the opinion that the well marked leather liner was 100% genuine but expressed a view that the exterior of the helmet had been repainted post war.
