WWII M42 German Helmet GerHelmet1 Shell Size 66 World War 2

I believe this helmet is a M42 German helmet. I can only remember back to the early 1950s when these two German helmets were in my father's possession. Unfortunately, I never learned how he acquired these two helmets.

This German helmet has the number 4640 stamped on the back of the inside. Only half of the zero in this number is visible, however it appears to be enough to be recognized as a zero. The number above the 4640 is difficult to read due to the "paint finish" which covers the helmet.

It looks as if it is a "66". I do not see damage to the helmet other than normal usage. The chinstrap has broken off.
